AndroidX A2UI alpha02 gives host apps a Compose function boundary and tightens property validation
Google released AndroidX A2UI, A2UI Compose and Material3 A2UI 1.0.0-alpha02 on October 21. The Compose basic catalog now uses an `A2uiBasicCatalogV1.Functions` interface: hosts must provide `openUrl` and may override other functions. Property-list factories reject invalid cardinality constraints, and Material3 adds a loading shimmer.
Why it matters
Native generative UI needs more than mapping protocol data to Compose components. It must define who executes links, formatting, validation and other functions. A host-owned interface lets an application apply its own navigation, authority and business rules instead of allowing the payload to imply execution.
A closer look
Core `a2ui-engine` and `a2ui-model` alpha02 add `acceptsUnresolvedArguments` to function definitions and let the execution context query definitions, so functions such as `required` can run when a data binding is unresolved by design. Compose runtime, UI and testing artifacts move together to alpha02. `materialA2uiBasicCatalogV1` now accepts one Functions object instead of separate providers, while logical functions remain catalog-owned. `A2uiProperty` list factories throw for negative minItems or maxItems and for minItems greater than maxItems. Material3 A2UI adds an animated shimmer for loading states.
