Specialized models, local interaction and evolving interfaces

Specialized training, bounded decisions and local runtimes are separating the cost layers of interface intelligence. GUI‑JEPA shows that when a host can enumerate trusted action candidates, a 0.50B discriminative policy can replace token-by-token action decoding by a 7B model with one latent-space scoring batch, while Agent S4 evolves the interface itself. Model capability, output modality, candidate catalogs, planners and rendering runtimes are becoming independently optimizable layers.

AI SDK 7.0.150 adds an experimental streaming-speech interface

Released October 22, AI SDK 7.0.150 adds experimental_streamSpeech, converting strings or incoming text parts into speech while exposing audio, full-event, usage, warning and provider-metadata streams.

Agent S4 evolves agent-facing interfaces from task trajectories

Submitted October 20, Agent S4 turns interface design into a meta-agent capability: it studies synthetic-task trajectories without success labels, adds or revises action and observation interfaces, and uses hidden validation tasks to select repositories for further evolution.

GUI‑JEPA replaces token-by-token action decoding with candidate-conditioned latent scoring

Submitted October 27, GUI‑JEPA targets single-step mobile GUI action selection. It transforms JEPA representations pretrained on unlabeled interface screenshots for each action and region candidate, then scores accessibility-tree candidates in one batch instead of asking a 7B vision-language model to decode an action token by token.
