A2UI ships its first CLI to generate versioned, type-safe Python builders from component catalogs

A2UI released CLI v0.1.0 on October 30. Its official `codegen` command turns component catalog schemas into Python client builders across protocol versions 0.9, 0.9.1 and 1.0. The release also provides SHA-256-listed binaries for macOS, Linux and Windows.

Why it matters

A declarative generative-UI protocol becomes easier to maintain when catalog schemas enter the application's type system. The CLI turns catalog contracts into builders, reducing drift in hand-written component names, properties and child relationships while making the selected candidate or legacy protocol version explicit.

A closer look

The initial release centers on `codegen`: it reads a catalog schema and emits type-safe Python component builders. It resolves `$defs/Child` as a single `Child` component and targets `a2ui.builder.v1_0` for v1.0 catalogs. The CLI depends on `a2ui_core ^0.4.0` and supports a compile-time CLI version override. Official assets cover Darwin arm64 and x64, Linux arm64 and x64, and Windows x64, with executable and archive hashes listed in the release.

A2UI separates model inference syntax from the wire protocol with Express and controlled decisions

On October 27, the Google A2UI team introduced swappable inference formats: a model can emit compact A2UI Express and let the SDK deterministically compile it against a component catalog into standard A2UI messages, while fixed-shape screens can use decision models to select predefined layouts.
