OpenDuet combines proactive attention, persistent tasks and action approval in an open-source AG‑UI workspace
On October 27, CopilotKit released OpenDuet, a self-hostable single-owner proactive-agent template that connects any compatible agent through AG‑UI. Across web, mobile, Slack and Teams, it triages what needs attention, prepares a morning brief, continues background work, and presents an action for approval before sending, paying, signing or deleting.
Why it matters
Generative interfaces are expanding from one response into persistent workspaces. Agents need durable states for attention, work in progress, approval, missing input, retry and resolution rather than leaving everything as chat text. OpenDuet is an inspectable open-source implementation connecting proactive tasks with approvals, audit, credential entry and an agent computer.
A closer look
OpenDuet runs on OpenBot, the CopilotKit runtime and AG‑UI. Mail and calendar triage feed a morning brief and task suggestions. Task cards move through Working, Ready for review, Needs input and Resolved states and expose retry after eligible failures. Each agent can receive a container with Chromium, a workspace and shell. Tool actions pass through a gateway that checks policy and writes an audit record; ask rules offer Refuse, Allow once and Always allow. Login data enters through a masked field, and the repository says stored credentials are encrypted, write-only and never returned by an API. A Make area produces designs, dashboards, slides, documents and web pages; governed MCP services provide connectors, while CopilotKit Intelligence stores threads and memory.
